D) sheer / did / to act / hadn't driven. *Sheer carelessness* („neglijență curată”) este o colocație fixă. Propoziția clivată *What the driver did was to act…* reia verbul *did*, iar *as if* cu sens ireal, despre o acțiune anterioară, cere past perfect: *as if he hadn't driven before*.

Answer

simply / did / to act / hadn't driven

Answer

simple / does / acting / didn't drove

Answer

utter / did / act / weren't driving

Accepted Answer

C) such / is often photographed.

Accepted Answer

A) cleaned / hadn't washed. După *It's high time* se folosește past simple cu sens prezent (*cleaned*). După *as if*, pentru o situație ireală anterioară momentului vorbirii, se folosește past perfect: *as if you hadn't washed it for ages*.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

A) If you had told me that he was having his room redecorated, I wouldn't have paid him a visit.. Condiționala de tip 3 este *If you had told me…, I wouldn't have paid him a visit*.

Answer

Had you told me that he was having his room redecorated, I wouldn't have payed him a visit.

Answer

Had you told me that he is having his room redecorated, I wouldn't have paid him a visit.

Answer

If you had told me that he was redecorating his room, I wouldn't have payed him a visit.

Accepted Answer

Verbul *smokes* este la persoana a III-a, deci subiectul general potrivit este *one*, nu *you*, iar *one* se reia tot prin *one*: *if one smokes, one may die*. *You're* și *yours* nu pot sta înaintea gerunziului.

your / you / you

Answer

you're / one / he

yours / he / he
